Basic Instinct recognizes the need of colleges and universities to address female students’ self-protection on campus. On-campus training uses the same body mechanics and techniques as the regular six-class course, but students have the unique advantage of taking the classes in the actual college environment where they live and attend classes.
Learning the self-protection skills in the environment that women are most likely to encounter an assault will radically increase a woman’s odds during an attack. We will address actual on-campus incidents, how they occur, how they can be avoided, and how to deal with worst-case scenarios. Ultimately, women must know how to recognize potentially violent situations, avoid them or protect themselves if needed. Basic Instinct has the skills, the instructors, and the tried-and-true curriculum that works.
Basic Instinct is new to the college community, but not new to self-protection. Ideally, a school can institute the Basic Instinct course into a series of classes for visiting summer pre-freshman women; this will educate women before they move onto campus and create a foundation of self-protection they can use throughout their college career. During the school year, the six-week course can be offered each semester for female students, an effective solution for students prepared to take ownership of their own safety on campus. We also offer weekly or nightly on-campus classes, tailored to your needs and scheduling.
While this nationwide epidemic has given us many dismaying statistics, it has posed no concrete solutions. We think Basic Instinct is a concrete solution – an effective hands-on way for women to impact their own safety on campus. While this is a national problem, it requires an individual school-based approach. Forward-looking colleges that wish to address on-campus violence against women can work with Basic Instinct to institute a program that benefits each individual student and the school at large. Working together, we believe that a Basic Instinct program can benefit intuitions that want positive changes in the instances of violence towards women on campus. We’re ready to make it a reality.
The programs created by Basic Instinct are incredibly versatile. To tailor a self-defense course based on your institution’s needs and budget, please contact us.
